Time Travel

Man, this past week has been all about TIME. Just found out that Mancub1 is probably going to start preschool in a couple weeks. Even crazier, it will be at the Elementary school that I attended as a kid. How is it that I have a boy old enough to be starting school? Although if he were 2 weeks older, he would be eligible for Kindergarten this year. I'm glad we're not there yet.

Hubs has been gone all weekend with his dad and a few friends participating in a motorcycle ride for Juvenile Diabetes. They left around 3pm on Friday to ride a few hours to get to the west side of the state. The riders leave at Midnight from Grand Rapids and ride all night with scheduled stops, crossing the Mackinac Bridge and arriving in St. Ignace around 8am. He participated with his dad last year as well and said it was a pretty cool experience. I'm so happy that he has the opportunity to go do these things and spend time with his dad doing the things they love.

I had a rush-order of two satchels for a really great girl and her sister-in-law for the Kenney Chesney concert they were going to. Ended up cute - they wanted one in brown/pink and the other in brown/green. Also ended up buying a TON of hair clips! These girls rock.

I really think I am going to have to start an Alphastar Clip support group because everyone who gets clips keeps coming back for more saying, "I'm ADDICTED!!". lovelovelove!

My sister-in-law and I did a cool thing and worked the ticket table for my besties 20th High School reunion. What a hoot! We both graduated two years later, but still remembered many of the people there. It was fun to catch up and network - and even funnier to look through the old yearbooks at my hideous pictures! I'll say it once again... Thank goodness my cute genes weren't wasted on my youth.

Speaking of Sister-in-law, she is seriously kicking some tail with her new endeavor. Get yours now and say you were one of the first!

This is NOT my sister-in-law, it's me!

Milford Memories weekend

WOW! This past weekend was INSANE. Milford Memories festival was busy as usual - some rainy periods, but overall a good weekend. I had a booth just past the end of the festival at my girlfriend's historical victorian home. Awesome location! I am so lucky to have such great friends. Sales went well, feedback was good - I was actually told by someone that I was the happiest person they had met! It's been a whirlwind so I don't have pics to post up, but hopefully will get that remedied later today. Just a BIG Thank You to everyone who help make this a successful thing for me. It's very exciting and motivating to see others' excitement over something I have created. cheers! A★

Alphastar accepts credit cards!

Alphastar now accepts all major Credit Cards! With the “Crafty Garage Sale” coming up this week during Milford Memories, I thought I would put the official word out that Alphastar can accept Credit Cards at Homeshows and Craft Events.

I have an iPhone4 and saw the app a while ago – signed up and LOVE my Square reader!

Seriously so very easy to use – and having the ability to accept Credit Cards without having to jump through a bunch of hoops or have a ton of extra cost and equipment is AWESOME.

Going to have some “never-before-seen” items at the sale, so be sure to come by and check us out!

cheers!

I'm baaaaack!

My sister-in-law had me over last night for an Alphastar home show and it was exactly the kick in the butt that I needed.  Seeing every one's excitement and hearing all the wonderful comments about all the Alphastar stuff is such motivation to make this work

I was just telling the Hubs that it has been a very long time that I have had a creative outlet that also made me feel so productive.  Without Hubs, my awesome friends and my amazing mother-in-law there is no way this would be happening.  It takes a village, people.

Going away for a long weekend with family (woohoo!!!) but when I get back I will be posting up NEW ITEMS FOR SALE and links to my Etsy and Shopenvy stores where things can be purchased.

Also - planning a Holiday Open House sometime early November at my home so that you can come see the studio and get some sweet deals on one-of-a-kind gifts!  Stay tuned!

Thank you Thank you Thank you for all the encouragement and support!
cheers!

Feathers and Leather...

I have been terrible about updates, etc.  Believe me, it is not due to a lack of wanting to be here posting away - telling my amazing story and showing off pics of the incredible things I have been creating.  It's simply because well....life happened.

Alphastar was started during a period of time when my husband was laid off from his Graphic Design job.  I had a full-time helper with the day-to-day stuff - as well as someone to help with our two young boys (they are 3 and 4 1/2).  After 10 months of unemployment, his job called him back.  Needless to say, I have had one heck of a time restructuring my schedule and carving out time.

I made the decision to no longer offer the option for custom items.  I also decided that I wanted an actual website with an integrated store.  The way things were being sold on Facebook was chaotic and time-consuming and in all honesty it was never really meant to go in that direction.  I simply just started attaching prices to the pics when I got bombarded with all the comments of "I want this!".  Right before Hubs got the call back to work, I had him starting on the design/layout of a new website.

Many hours have been spent trying to work around the confines of the coding world that is eCommerce.  After many frustrating conversations, I came to the decision that I would rather the precious extra time that the Hubs was spending researching and trying to implement a shopping cart should be redirected to the graphics and design aspect of my site.  So, in reality we are back to square one but with a better direction.  I will have an actual .com site incorporating my blog and will do sales through Etsy and Storeenvy - a new eCommerce that I am very excited about for it's networking qualities.

I have a couple new accessories I have been working on - hair clips inspired by the feather movement.  Feathers, repurposed leather, and vintage buttons.  Here's a preview....

cheers!
