My sister-in-law had me over last night for an Alphastar home show and it was exactly the kick in the butt that I needed. Seeing every one's excitement and hearing all the wonderful comments about all the Alphastar stuff is such motivation to make this work.
I was just telling the Hubs that it has been a very long time that I have had a creative outlet that also made me feel so productive. Without Hubs, my awesome friends and my amazing mother-in-law there is no way this would be happening. It takes a village, people.
Going away for a long weekend with family (woohoo!!!) but when I get back I will be posting up NEW ITEMS FOR SALE and links to my Etsy and Shopenvy stores where things can be purchased.
Also - planning a Holiday Open House sometime early November at my home so that you can come see the studio and get some sweet deals on one-of-a-kind gifts! Stay tuned!
Thank you Thank you Thank you for all the encouragement and support!
cheers!

Feathers and Leather...
I have been terrible about updates, etc. Believe me, it is not due to a lack of wanting to be here posting away - telling my amazing story and showing off pics of the incredible things I have been creating. It's simply because well....life happened.
Alphastar was started during a period of time when my husband was laid off from his Graphic Design job. I had a full-time helper with the day-to-day stuff - as well as someone to help with our two young boys (they are 3 and 4 1/2). After 10 months of unemployment, his job called him back. Needless to say, I have had one heck of a time restructuring my schedule and carving out time.
I made the decision to no longer offer the option for custom items. I also decided that I wanted an actual website with an integrated store. The way things were being sold on Facebook was chaotic and time-consuming and in all honesty it was never really meant to go in that direction. I simply just started attaching prices to the pics when I got bombarded with all the comments of "I want this!". Right before Hubs got the call back to work, I had him starting on the design/layout of a new website.
Many hours have been spent trying to work around the confines of the coding world that is eCommerce. After many frustrating conversations, I came to the decision that I would rather the precious extra time that the Hubs was spending researching and trying to implement a shopping cart should be redirected to the graphics and design aspect of my site. So, in reality we are back to square one but with a better direction. I will have an actual .com site incorporating my blog and will do sales through Etsy and Storeenvy - a new eCommerce that I am very excited about for it's networking qualities.
I have a couple new accessories I have been working on - hair clips inspired by the feather movement. Feathers, repurposed leather, and vintage buttons. Here's a preview....
cheers!
